Welcome to Karabo and my little corner of the internet – I am so happy to have you here.
Well first, as with all new introductions, let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I have loved fashion and styling my whole life. My mother was a fashion designer, my grandmother was a house model and my father was in the “rag trade” specialising in tweed and tartan fabric.
I grew up in East London and love how the diversity and individuality of that area has stayed with me.
I have made my own clothes, done a tailoring course and a nightmare when I go buying as I can see when something hasn’t been constructed correctly and will not “sit well” on the body. I have lost count of the amount of times I have told brands “this should be lined” or “that dart is in the wrong place” …. Needless to say those items never made it to the shop floor.
I ran a bricks and mortar shop in Leamington Spa with my daughter for 10 years and customers were loyal as they knew they would get honest advice. We would rather not have a sale than sell something we knew did not suit our customer and would remain in their wardrobe.
I am now on the wrong side of 60 and plus size but I appreciate all of us have parts of our bodies we do not like or lose our way with styling whatever our age.
So, I’m thrilled to embark on this journey with you, exploring the intricate relationship between style and self-assurance, where fashion meets confidence, and self-expression knows no bounds.
But let’s be real – the journey to self-confidence isn’t always a walk in the park. In a world inundated with unrealistic standards and airbrushed images, it’s easy to feel like we don’t measure up. Trust me, I’ve been there. But through my own struggles with body image and self-esteem, I’ve come to realise that true beauty lies in authenticity – in embracing our flaws and owning our uniqueness without apology.
That’s why I’m here – to share my insights, experiences, and tips on how to navigate the world of fashion with confidence and grace. From body-positive styling tips to how to find the perfect pair of jeans (yes you can …. we were jeans specialists and there is a style out there for everyone).
So, why should you follow along? Because together we can celebrate style in all shapes and sizes. Whether you’re a fashion enthusiast, a fellow advocate for body positivity, or someone simply looking for a little inspiration, I invite you to join me on this journey as we redefine fashion on our own terms.
